1. Client Services Teammate/Underwriter

Izzo Insurance Services, a division of Hull & Company, LLC, a National Insurance Wholesale Broker & MGA, is seeking an experienced Client Services Teammate/Underwriter for its Bloomingdale, IL office. Under the guidance of an Operations Leader, individual whose primary function includes carrying out technical and administrative bind authority underwriting functions to determine acceptability of business and the integrity of underwriting practices.

Essential Duties & Functions: include the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required
  • Work with Binding Authority Underwriters when underwriting new and renewal risks, ensuring that all required information is obtained, proper applications are complete, quotes and binders are confirmed in writing, policies are issued promptly and accurately.
  • Manage, maintain and renew assigned book of business (all applicable lines of business) per agency guidelines. Renewal quotes to be delivered 2 weeks prior to policy effective date; rate and bind new business and underwrite, rate and bind renewal business in various insurance carrier systems.
  • Review renewal business and work with Binding Authority Underwriter to determine marketing direction. Review and obtain alternate quotations on assigned book of business when necessary.
  • Check policy coverage and rating for accuracy and relevance on all new business, endorsements, audits and renewals on assigned book of business; policies delivered within 48 hours of receipt.
  • Respond to telephone, fax, mail and e-mail requests and questions from retail brokers and underwriters. Request and/or process, plus suspense endorsements.
  • Send out loss control reports and bureau criticisms and suspense for follow-up.
  • Assist retail brokers and customers with submission and resolution of audit disputes on assigned book of business.
  • Maintain account folders and computer files in accordance with established procedures.
  • Follow-up with retail brokers on status of late payments, collections, notices of cancellation and rescission.
  • Promote products and services offered by Izzo Insurance Services to increase production from retail brokers.
  • Assist in training of account or technical assistant(s) where needed.
  • Issue and/or re-issue certificates of insurance.
  • Frequently coordinate and correspond with other internal and external departments via phone, mail and e-mail to respond to questions, investigate and resolve issues, and follow-up on outstanding items.
  • Assist in training of other personnel as directed, not limited to instructing and training processors and assistants, review indications, quotes, binders, submissions, and policy for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensure all correspondence and requests are documented and attached to the appropriate file in the appropriate system(s).
  • Perform other duties assigned.

Required:
  • Minimum education required High School Diploma or GED
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, listening, oral)
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • 3 - 5 years experience in a similar position
  • Working towards or holds valid P&C licenses
